Childbirth Education Class

This Childbirth Education Class is designed to empower women and couples with the information necessary to have a safe and satisfying birth. The best available scientific research is used to provide you with the facts you need to make informed choices during late pregnancy and childbirth. The information for the childbirth class is compiled from many different sources and birth philosophies including the Lamaze Institute, Dr. Bradley, midwife Ina Mae Gaskin, Dr. Michel Odent, Henci Goer and others. Participants will learn through games, class discussions, activities, videos and homework.

Childbirth education class topics include:
  • Stages of Labor
  • Coping with Labor
  • Interventions – benefits, risks, and alternatives
  • Pushing and Birth
  • After the Birth
  • Baby Care Basics
  • Breastfeeding

Group Childbirth Education Classes are held in my home in South Mountain Village (16th Street and Baseline). The class consists of twelve hours of instruction. A complete childbirth series for an expectant couple is $150. I am willing to provide these classes on a barter or sliding scale fee if needed.

Private Childbirth Education Classes are also available. They can be held in my home or yours and the cost is $250.

Refresher Childbirth Education Classes are private classes designed especially for the woman who has given birth previously. If you've given birth before, but want to have better information to make different choices this time, then this class is for you. The class is usually a 4 hour class and the cost is $100.
